PARKINSONAUTI TEAM Together we go further, Join us.
The PARKINSONAUTI TEAM is the new ambitious and fantastic dream that we want to realize in 2021. Turning it into reality is another exciting journey, which we have undertaken together with friends who are already part of it.
Samantha Vizentin, Antonella Brunacci, Katia Bessi, Carmela Arancio, Anna Amitrano, Cecilia Ferrari, Grazia Pastori, Roberto Russo, Marco Ramelli, Daniele Bortoli, Carlo Negri, Alberto Acciaro, Simone Baldi, Giuseppe Scaglioso, Stefano Rossi, Angelo Gualtieri, Edgardo Vietti , Roberto Sgobazzi, Stefano Ruaro, Roberto Ripani, Alberto Rinaldi, Guido Molinari, Filippo Mion, Alfonso Merosini, Gianni Cantarelli, Carlo Calcagni, Dario Bravin.
It all started almost for fun, when in 2017 I had the diagnosis of Parkinson’s , I decided that I had to be the one to defend my body from the attack of the disease .
In what way?
Practicing even more sports than I had ever done in my entire life. The world of sport immediately proved very generous with me, in a few months, I realized that what was happening to me could be an opportunity both for me and for my friends Parkinsonauts, who contacted me day after day to ask for information and participate in our activities.
Thus was born Parkinson & Sport, a non-profit social promotion association, founded in November 2018 by the current president Stefano Ghidotti, 59 years old Triathlete with Parkinson’s disease since 2017, which today has almost 300 members, with the purpose of:
Witness
the importance of physical activity to counteract the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
With training, the muscle fibers become more elastic, fl exible and resistant, improving agility, balance and ease of movement.
Running and playing sports stimulates the production of neurotransmitters, such as Endorphins, Serotonin and Dopamine, which fight depression, anxiety and reduce stress by increasing well-being.
These e ff ects, which are positive for everyone, are providential for Parkinson’s sufferers, who suffer from movement di culty and a tendency to depression.
Physical activity with its neuroprotective and neurostimulatory e ff ect helps to keep symptoms under control and slows the course of the disease.
To promote
among the community of people affected by Parkinson’s disease, which are still estimated to be in the order of 4 / 500,000 in Italy, including many young people between 30 and 50 years old, participation in recreational, sporting, competitive activities, related to movement and to sport.
Aggregate
competitive sportsmen in a multisport team, THE PARKINSONAUTI TEAM, favor their participation in national and international events, triathlon, duathlon, running, biking and swimming with the colors of the association.
To organize
competitive and non-competitive sports recreational events, dedicated to people with Parkinson’s and also to any other similar neurodegenerative diseases or motor disabilities.
To represent
during these races, with our stand, PARKINSONTRIATHLON our presence.
To communicate
telling about our activities to involve new friends, stimulating emulation by example, through our blog and our social channels.

In 2018 and 2019 I participated in various sprint and Olympic triathlons and involved other Parkinsonauts sportsmen to participate in other sporting events.
Among these, thanks to the resources collected and made available by the Parkinson & Sport Association, the “New York Marathon” run with Alfonso Ruocco and Edoardo Leotta , also Parkinsonauts, the ” 12 hours Cycling Marathon” in the Monza racetrack, with a mixed team of patients and caregivers.
I also took part in the crossing of the Strait of Messina by swimming with 4 friends Parkinsonaute Ferrari Cecilia, Emanuela Olivieri, Marina Agrillo and the late Marisa Sivo .
In these years we have created the conditions, now is the time , the :
“PARKINSONAUTI TEAM”
A multisport team in the colors of the Parkinson & Sport association whose athletes will participate in triathlons, paratriathlons, cross-country cycling, marathons, swim crossings, to affirm more and more that sport is good for everyone.
In August 2022 we will represent Italy at the 2nd edition of the Parkinson Games , an international event that will take place in Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
We have already applied to host them in 2023 in Italy.
Moving towards the cure
We are the spark of a movement that involves many friends with Parkinson’s disease, who are finding the motivation to go out every day to walk, run, swim or ride a bike.
Because moving is good for everyone , but it is necessary for those who, like us, are affected by a neurodegenerative disease for which there is currently no cure.
OUR VISION IS: WE WILL HAVE THE CARE!
THE MISSION IS: TO ACCOMPANY THAT MOMENT, AS MUCH FRIENDS AS POSSIBLE, KEEPING IN SHAPE THROUGH MOVEMENT AND SPORT.
Paratriathlon and Paralympics
The project has started with the responsible body, to have athletes with Parkinson’s assigned the category that allows them to participate in national and international Paratriathlon events. With the aim of gaining access to all Paralympic sports for the future. The dream is to give an athlete from the PARKINSONAUTI TEAM the opportunity to represent us all qualifying for the Paralympics .
